Simple Ravioli Recipe From Scratch

If you’re a fan of Italian cuisine, you’ve probably tasted ravioli before. Ravioli is a type of pasta filled with cheese, meat, or vegetables and is usually served with a tomato sauce or butter and sage. Making ravioli from scratch might seem challenging, but with a little effort, you can create delicious homemade ravioli that will impress your family and friends. In this blog post, I will guide you through the process of making ravioli step by step.

– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 3 large eggs
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 cup ricotta cheese
– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
– 1 egg yolk
– 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

– A large mixing bowl
– A clean work surface
– A rolling pin
– A ravioli stamp or cookie cutter
– A pastry brush
– A pot for boiling the ravioli

1. Make the pasta dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt and make a well in the center. Crack the eggs into the well and add the olive oil. Gradually mix the flour and eggs together until it forms a dough. Knead the dough for 10-15 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.

2. Make the filling: In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, egg yolk, and chopped parsley. Mix well.

3. Roll out the pasta dough: Using a rolling pin, roll out the pasta dough into thin sheets. The sheets should be thin enough to see through, but not too thin that they tear easily.

4. Add the filling: Using a spoon or a pastry bag, place small portions of the filling onto one sheet of pasta, leaving about an inch in between each portion. Cover the filling with the second sheet of pasta.

5. Seal the ravioli: Use a ravioli stamp or a cookie cutter to cut the pasta into individual ravioli. Press the edges of each ravioli together with your fingers or a fork to seal them. Repeat this process until all of the pasta dough and filling has been used.

6. Cook the ravioli: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully add the ravioli to the water and cook for 3-4 minutes or until they float to the surface.

7. Serve the ravioli: Drain the ravioli and serve with your favorite sauce.

Making ravioli from scratch might seem daunting, but with a little practice, you can create delicious ravioli that will impress your family and friends.
